The Laughing Cow® Extra Light Diet Survey shows a general shift in the way people approach weight loss with consumers rejecting the somewhat restrictive notion of dieting in favour of the more balanced idea of healthy eating. So 2007 may finally be the year that the public sees fad diets for what they are as we wake up to the fact that there is no such things as a quick fix or miracle diet. These diets often promise the earth and simply result in the dieter losing £’s instead of lb’s!

That said, our survey also showed that 26% of the dieters would consider skipping meals to lose weight, 21% of dieters would consider only eating salad and 12% would consider a liquid only diet proving that, for most of us, it is not so much a battle of the bulge but an all out war.

We commissioned Ipsos-MORI to carry out this survey to better understand dieters’ attitudes, aspirations and difficulties when dieting. The results make interesting reading and can be downloaded here.

Our survey also revealed that there are 5 distinct dieting types, each with different motivations, difficulties and approaches to dieting indicating that there is no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to weight loss.

You can check out what dieting type you are by downloading the What's Your Dieting Type document where you will also find tailored advice and tips for your dieting type from respected nutritionist and registered dietician Sian Porter.

We, at The Laughing Cow®, hope that you will find the tips, tools and advice on our website helpful and motivating and wish you every success in achieving your weight loss goals.
